Catechists
Catechists lead our programmes of preparation for the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, First Holy Communion, Reconciliation, and Marriage. They are tasked with helping to build up the faith of our church in this most valuable ministry. Training is provided for all catechists.
If you are interested in joining this group, please contact the Parish Priest.
Gift Aid
Gift Aid is a formal, but flexible, arrangement of giving to the Church.
It can take one or more of the following forms:
- weekly sum given via offertory envelopes
- monthly, quarterly or annual standing orders
- cheques for regular or one-off gifts
Since the Church is a registered charity, HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC) will refund to the parish, tax already paid by individuals on money given in church collections. So if you are a tax payer it would be of great financial benefit to the parish if you were to make a gift aid declaration. If you are a higher rate tax payer, you may be able to reclaim the difference between the standard tax rate and your higher rate from HMRC. Further information regarding Gift Aid can be found on the HMRC website or from the local tax office.
Our Parish Gift Aid Administrator, John Shean, is happy to help and to provide further information. Please contact him through the Parish Office.
If you wish to join the Gift Aid scheme or to give by standing order, please complete the gift aid declaration form, and return it to the Parish Office.
Any Gift Aider who wishes to make a gift by cheque and wishes that gift to be eligible for Gift Aid, should please ensure that the cheque is made payable to "St Edward the Confessor Catholic Church Romford".
Gift Aid update for tax year 2009/10
Thank you to all parishioners who participated in the Gift Aid scheme last year - the parish was able to recover £13,881.84 from HM Revenue and Customs after the diocesan commission, with around 100 gift-aiders contributing this year.
